Body Factory Lifestyle Residence Uluwatu opened in November 2025 in Pecatu, on the southern tip of the Bukit Peninsula — five minutes walk from Bingin Beach and Impossible Beach. It is the second Lifestyle Residence from Body Factory Bali, following the Canggu property covered in Edit No.02. The model is the same. The location is entirely different.

What Came Before

The Canggu property established the proposition: a residential environment designed around use rather than indulgence, where training, recovery, and rest operate not as aspirational activities but as the default rhythm of the day.

Uluwatu carries this south.

The differences between the two properties are less about what they offer than where they offer it. Canggu sits in the middle of the most active part of Bali's international community — cafés, gyms, surf breaks, coworking spaces at continuous density. The Lifestyle Residence there operates as a considered retreat within that intensity. Uluwatu operates differently. The Bukit Peninsula is not Canggu. The pace is lower. The landscape is limestone and Indian Ocean rather than rice paddy and coffee shop. The version of Bali that Body Factory has moved into here is quieter, more deliberate, and in certain respects more itself.

Bingin

Bingin has resisted the transformation of the wider Bukit Peninsula more successfully than most of it.

The steep path down to the beach is still steep. The break is still serious. The village around it still operates on the terms that good waves and isolation establish over decades — before the money follows and begins to redecorate. Body Factory arrived into this ecosystem before it has been fully discovered, which is the right time to arrive.

The residence sits in the village above the beach. Close enough. Not inside it.

The Room

The room I stayed in had a sauna and a hot tub on the balcony.

The hot tub can be converted to an ice bath — a process that takes a few hours and requires no particular effort. The result, on the balcony of a residence five minutes from the beach in Uluwatu, is a recovery environment that most dedicated training facilities in Europe would consider more than adequate. It is simply where you sleep.

This is the Body Factory logic made physical. At the Canggu property, as we noted in Edit No.02, balconies fitted with ice baths and saunas make recovery something woven into the day rather than scheduled around it. Uluwatu extends this. The hot tub-to-ice bath conversion is a practical detail — the kind that sounds like a feature and functions like a philosophy.

The building has drinkable tap water throughout. In Bali, this removes the low-level vigilance of daily life that most properties require of their guests.

The Fitness Centre and What Is Coming

Body Factory began as a fitness and recovery operation in Canggu before it moved into accommodation. The Canggu gym — an official HYROX Training Club with high-performance equipment, group classes, and a recovery hub — was the foundation. The Lifestyle Residences in Canggu and Uluwatu are built around what that gym established.

The fitness centre at the Uluwatu residence carries this forward. It is a training space built by people who train, equipped accordingly. The sauna, ice bath, and jacuzzi on the rooftop follow the same logic.

Within two to three years, a considerably larger project will complete approximately ten minutes drive away — 1.4 hectares on the Uluwatu hilltop, 70 residences, 30 integrated facilities including a 750 square metre gym, a 25-metre training pool, a thermal circuit, and a full recovery suite. The second flagship Body Factory gym will be on that property. Guests staying at the Lifestyle Residence now are arriving before the peninsula's most ambitious wellness development exists. That timing has a value of its own.

The Peninsula

Uluwatu Temple is fifteen minutes south — a sea temple on a 70-metre cliff above the Indian Ocean that earns its reputation and then some. El Kabron, Dugong, GWK Cultural Park, and the Rock Bar at AYANA are all within the peninsula. The surf at Padang Padang is a short drive.

The Bukit Peninsula rewards staying rather than visiting. Most people treat it as a series of taxi journeys between destinations. Those who base themselves here — with a kitchen, a sauna on the balcony, and Bingin Beach five minutes away — find that it operates on a scale and at a pace that single visits do not reveal.
